Chris and Carrie's Wedding Posted on July 21, 2012 |
| The sun was shining today at Teversham Church and The Holiday Inn, Impington, meaning perhaps that the dreadful summers weather is improving. Chris and Carrie's wedding went very well, with the only problems being caused by the waterlogged ground after so many weeks of rain. I especially liked the highland bagpiper who bought some real colour (as well as music) to the wedding. |

Nicola and Robert's Wedding Posted on April 17, 2012 |
| Today I was at probably the most impressive venue I have ever photographed at, Belton House in Grantham. The indoor photography was very restricted by The National Trust's rules, but we were able to get some particularly good shots outside. The weather started badly but turned to glorious sunshine later, and with the formal photography finished we all got tea and cake in the orangery. I sat and thought to myself that there are worse jobs than being a wedding photographer. |

Jack and Helena's Wedding Posted on March 11, 2012 |
Great wedding at the Cedar Court Hotel in York yesterday. This was a five star hotel with impressive service and wonderful food to match! Holiday in Russia Posted on October 25, 2010 |
| I am having a great time in the historic city of St Petersburg. Its a real photographers paradise here, with wonderful, photogenic buildings that are floodlit at night. There is a lot to see and do. I have just taken the picture below of The Church of Spilled Blood. Also seen here is The central square in St Petersburg, with The General Staff Building, and the Winter Palace, and interiors of The Winter Palace. The statues are one of the Atlantes which support the roof of the of The Hermitage, and The Bronze Horseman, being a staue of Peter The Great. Also pictured is a whale skeleton in The Zoology Museum and myself on the warship Aurora, and a panorama of St Petersburg and the river Neva. |

Joanne and Richard's Wedding Posted on September 18, 2010 |
At Biggleswade Registry Office for the first time today, and all went well for Richard and Joanne's big day. There was a shortage of good scenery at The Registry Office, but we did find some greenery and some striking red curtains at the reception Venue, The Wetherley Centre, which helped create some nice portraits.
Joanne commented; 'Thank you very much for the disc of wedding photos, they were really lovely and we are both pleased with them. Once again, thank you for your service, and I will be recommending you to my friends in the future.' |

Mark and Tara's Wedding Posted on August 14, 2010 |
Back to Cambridge registry office again today for Mark and Tara's wedding. We were blessed with un-forecast good weather for pictures at Castle Hill before moving onto The Galleria restaurant on Bridge Street.
Tara commented; 'When you add the word wedding to most things it automatically doubles the price, but not with the wedding photography of Douglas Stuart. We still got the excellent service and high quality photographs we wanted from our big day but at a price which did not break the bank.' |

Laura and David's Wedding Posted on August 8, 2010 |
Yesterdays wedding was a lovely affair in spite of some poor weather. The reception was held in a magnificent marquee which proved very useful for the formal pictures, most of which had to be taken indoors. Some unusual highlights included a stretch Hummer as the bridal transport, the symbolic release of doves, and an extraordinary, emotive song from the brides stepdad. Definitely a memorable wedding.
Laura commented; 'I am really pleased with the photos thankyou so much.' |

Charity Run in London Posted on July 11, 2010 |
| I have had a very early start this morning to get to London for this mornings ASICS 10km charity run, in order to photograph the runners from The Cambridge University Press. There was an impressive parade by the army and some wonderful novelty costumes - I cant help but wonder how any one could have managed wearing these in this mornings heat. I did a before and after group photograph and tried to get some of the CUP runners in action- a real challenge finding and photographing them amongst an astonishing 25,000 runners. I got some of them. |

Ben and Kelly's Wedding Posted on July 10, 2010 |
Ben and Kelly's wedding has been an impressive affair - starting at St Georges church in Littleport and going on to Chilford Hall, Linton. They had a very photogenic wedding car from Cloud 9, lovely weather (though very hot) and beautiful venues. The bride looked particularly stunning.
I was very impressed with Chilford Hall, the grounds are just right for wedding photography and we got some good shots there. I also liked the 'arch of lightsabers' as the bride and groom are Star Wars fans. |

Visit to National Portrait Gallery Posted on July 6, 2010 |
I have just returned from London where I have visited The National Portrait Gallery and an exhibition of graduate students photographic work at The A & D Gallery, London. This has been a fascinating trip - at The National Portrait gallery it was wonderful to see so many historic portraits such as Elizabeth I's coronation portrait and the famous portraits of Charles I and II. It was extremely interesting to see how these historic portrait paintings have influenced contemporary formal photographic portraiture, and to have the opportunity to see the best of both these types of work in the same gallery. It was great to see some famous modern pieces such as Marc Quinn's 'Blood Head', a portrait of his own head made from his own frozen blood, and Sam Taylor Wood's self portrait holding a stuffed hare. I also found Steve Mcqueen's work 'For Queen and Country' very thought provoking - it is a wooden cabinet containg sheets of stamps portraying British soldiers killed in The Afghan War. Seeing this piece really has great impact.
The A & D gallery off Baker street is a small gallery showcasing some superb work by photography students. I was especially impressed with the fashion portraits by Abigail Holt which were visually and technically stunning. |

Visit To Felbrigg Hall 28/6/10 Posted on July 1, 2010 |
| I visited Felbrigg Hall in Norfolk this evening which is a wonderful stately home surrounded by a lake. My hopes of photographing the hall were dashed by the extremely powerful security lights that shine directly at you when you get within sight of the building, making a good exposure impossible. I did however get a nice picture of a tree in the grounds and of the swan on the lake. |

Book cover for Cambridge University Press Posted on July 1, 2010 |
Having been asked by The Press to contribute images for possible use in a previous publication, I have just been told that my latest submitted image has been chosen for the front cover of 'So You think you Know English?' by Clare West, to be published early next year. The cover image was intended to pick up on the key theme of the book, which is to explain English idioms to foreign readers.
